Shock as sifuna hints on ODM not Supporting UDA in 2027

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has caused a stir among Raila Odinga’s supporters after dismissing the possibility of an alliance between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nation.Africa, Sifuna reaffirmed that ODM would only collaborate with parties that share its “pro-people policies” and ideological principles.

Sifuna clarified that ODM remains committed to fielding its own presidential candidate in 2027, distancing the party from speculation of a political realignment with UDA.

However, his comments have left some ODM supporters puzzled, particularly in light of internal disagreements within the party.

The confusion stems from ODM members who have accepted roles in President Ruto’s administration, raising questions about the party’s unity and direction.

Sifuna addressed these concerns, noting that such members act in their personal capacity and do not represent the official position of ODM.

The tensions were evident during a recent Central Management Committee meeting, where ODM officials debated disciplinary measures against members accused of aligning too closely with the government.

Despite the internal challenges, Sifuna’s remarks reaffirm ODM’s stance as an opposition party dedicated to advancing its vision of a just and democratic society.

As the 2027 elections approach, ODM supporters are left to ponder whether the party can navigate these internal divisions and present a united front against its rival
