Saboti Mp hints at fred Matiangi’s failure in his bid to run for presidency in 2027 Elections
- Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has hinted at Fred Matiang’i’s failure in his alleged bid to run for the presidency in the 2027 elections
- The lawmaker claimed that Matiang’i was supposed to be on the ballot in 2022 but former president Uhuru Kenyatta prevented him
- According to the MP, the presidential aspirant created an office that sabotaged Raila Odinga’s campaign
Former Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i’s reported decision to run for president in the 2027 elections has ignited varied responses across the country.
This follows reports that he hired a global lobbying firm at an alleged cost of KSh 32 million to rally support for his campaign.
While many Kenyans view Matiang’i as a strong candidate due to his performance in previous ministerial roles, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has voiced scepticism about his chances.

Why Matiang’i may not win 2027 elections
Amisi dismissed Matiang’i’s bid, describing it as a “false start” and arguing that Kenya needs a renaissance, not recycled leadership.
“Why are people surprised by Matiangi’s threat to vie? Not just now. This already is a fault start. Next candidate, please! Kenya needs a renaissance!” the MP stated.
The MP also issued a caution to the opposition, emphasising that running multiple presidential candidates would likely ensure a win for the incumbent.
“In a tribal democracy like Kenya, multiple presidential candidates equal the incumbent wins. The opposition must plan accordingly. Don’t cry later—facts are stubborn,” Amisi stated.
Why Matiang’i didn’t run for presidency in 2022
Additionally, Amisi claimed that the presidential hopeful had initially intended to run for president in 2022 as Azimio’s candidate.
However, former president Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly intervened to prevent him from pursuing the position.
The legislator further alleged that Matiang’i sabotaged ODM boss Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential campaign by mismanaging agent funds, leading to a disorganised effort.

“The guy wanted to vie in the last election as Azimio’s candidate in place of Raila, but Uhuru prevailed upon him. He formed a party and his office made sure the Azimio campaign ran haphazardly, including agent money! Oh yes! Matiangi was destined to be on the ballot,” Amisi alleged.
