Former Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Ukur Yattani has lost bid to stop Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, EACC from Investigating him over Kshs 8.2 Billion corruption case coming only few days after his house was raided by the detectives.
The Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had raided the home of former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani in a suspected graft probe.
Yatani, who previously served as Governor for Marsabit County, was even put under the custody of EACC detectives and was grilled grilled over alleged involvement in a multi-billion shillings graft.
He then quickly rushed to court to stop the case .In his case filed before the High Court alongside his wife Dr Gumato Yatani, the former minister claimed that the raid on his Karen and Marsabit homes were illegal.
Yatani had argued that the warrant issued by the magistrate’s court gave EACC officers a blank cheque to carry away anything that was not related to the probe.
However, today court has declined his request to stop the EACC from Investigating him and instead , the court has directed that the former Cabinet Secretary be served with court papers.
