Garissa; 5 Students Heading Home For Holiday Shot Dead By Assailants.

- Garissa – Six people have been killed while travelling to Hulugho on Borokey Road, from Garissa Town.
Among those killed in the Wednesday, August 16 attack were five students who were heading home spend time with their relatives during holiday.
According to Northeastern Regional Commissioner John Otieno, the deceased were travelling a pro-box when the gunmen ambushed them and shot them at close range.
Regional boss John Otieno said preliminary investigations showed the attack was due to an inter-clan conflict and that the attackers were on a revenge mission.

“The victims were asked to identify themselves before they were shot at close range. All the deceased are from the same clan,” said Otieno.
Otieno revealed that one key suspect was arrested and is aiding the police with investigations.
The suspects are pundits and we believe they were after revenge over an earlier incident. Through our intelligence, we have been able to arrest one key suspect who will help in nailing down the remaining suspects,” he added.
The spate of killings in Garissa in the recent days is worrying and Wednesday killings bring to 10- the number of murders in Garissa town in a span of a month.
