How The Following Allowances will Affect August Salary Increament For Teachers
Teachers and civil servants will soon enjoy a pay rise of between 7 percent to 10 percent spread over two years (two phases) and backdated from 1st July 2023.
On 13th August, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) released additional information on the number of allowances to be affected by the salary increment plan. The commission listed Houses, Commuters, and allowances to be affected by the new changes.
The new House and Commuter allowances that will be paid were also displayed in a table by the SRC. Teachers and civil servants will get a 5 percent pay rise in the first phase which starts from 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024 and 5 percent in the second phase which runs from 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2025.

Details show that the pay rise has affected allowances paid to various government employees which include teachers, civil servants, county government employees, and disciplined forces.
The Ministry of Public Service, gender and affirmative action has however released the remuneration and benefits for national government employees for the first phase. Details show that the house allowance will change for several job groups including those in the lower cadre.
“The new Basic Salaries and House Allowance will apply to Civil Servants in the National Government in CSG17 to CSG4, who will be in the Service on or after 1st July 2023,” said Ministry in the document containing the changes.
TSC is yet to release the new salary structure showing the new salary points for the lowest to the highest paid teacher.
