Happening Now; Thika Super High Way Blocked At Utalii By Protestors

The Thika Superhighway, a major artery connecting Nairobi to the bustling town of Thika, came to a standstill today as protestors from the Mathare area took to the streets.

Frustrated by the high cost of living, the protestors resorted to blocking the highway at Utalii by setting tires ablaze on the road, disrupting the flow of traffic and forcing motorists to turn back.

The demonstration was a response to a call made by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who had urged citizens to take to the streets on the day known as Sabasaba.

Odinga, a prominent political figure in Kenya, highlighted the soaring cost of living that has burdened many ordinary citizens.

The protestors echoed his sentiments, expressing their discontent with rising prices of basic commodities, fuel, and other essential goods and services.

The blockade caused a significant disruption, with long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the highway.

Commuters and travelers found themselves stranded, unable to proceed with their journeys.

Police and security forces were deployed to the scene to maintain order and ensure the safety of all individuals involved.

Protests and demonstrations are powerful tools for citizens to voice their grievances and draw attention to pressing issues.

However, it is essential for such demonstrations to be conducted peacefully and within the confines of the law to avoid unnecessary chaos and potential harm to individuals or property.

Authorities are now working to clear the blockade and restore the smooth flow of traffic on the Thika Superhighway.

The incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need to address the concerns of the citizens and find sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of the rising cost of living in Kenya.
