Raila accuses Ruto
President William Ruto is under fire from Azimio leader Raila Odinga for allegedly planning an illegal Jubilee takeover in order to get a super majority in Parliament and modify the Constitution to achieve its objectives, which may include eliminating presidential term limits.

At the Jubilee special National Delegates Convention on Monday at Ngong Racecourse, Mr. Odinga stated that the attacks on Jubilee are contrary to the principles of multi-party democracy.
“The regime is following a well-worn road in this. Kenya Kwanza is working on a plan that will be comparable to the one that allowed Kadu to join Kanu in 1964 without having to ask for a new mandate for its MPs.
According to him, President Ruto wants Jubilee dead in the same manner that Kadu did, and Kenya Kwanza would then attempt to recreate the sequence of events that led to Kenya being a de facto one-party state in 1969 and a de jure one in 1982.
He argued that Kenyans must understand that the intention to eliminate alternative political structures is the first step toward the establishment of a full-fledged dictatorship.
The ODM leader predicted that after that, “people’s representation and participation in national political affairs will be frozen.”
In order to get a favorable settlement for Kenyans, Mr. Odinga said Azimio welcomed the bipartisan negotiations. If the deal cannot be reached, he added, “Kenyans can be sure we will not pursue vain dialogue.”
He denied rumors that he wanted to shake hands with Dr. Ruto.
“Those who want to take over Jubilee are also the ones who are always terrified for their political futures and places. They are the ones enduring the misery of a handshake that no one wants, he claimed.
Jubilee was being destroyed, he claimed, “not because it was weak, but because they recognize Jubilee is a force now and could be a bigger force and a threat in the years ahead.”
He urged party dissenters to step down and seek new office rather than upending the balance from within.
At the same time, Mr. Odinga declared that the opposition would use the self-determination process in response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s assertion that Kenya is a limited liability business.
