City and Real renew hostilities at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
The first leg saw Vinicius Junior’s sensational first-half goal cancelled out by another moment of brilliance from Kevin De Bruyne, talkSPORT reports.
That’s all in the past now, as the two European powerhouses are tied up on aggregate and ready to collide for a place on the biggest stage in club football.
Pep Guardiola’s side are heading into Wednesday’s second leg with a 22-game unbeaten run to protect, but Muller is backing Real Madrid to triumph because of his former teammate David Alaba.
“On a personal level [also because of David Alaba], I am more with Real,” Muller said via Bavarian Football Networks.
“In terms of football, I find both teams really great, the way they shape the game. Nice to look at. Will be a top second leg.”
Courtois optimistic of Madrid’s chances
Meanwhile, Thibaut Courtois is optimistic about the chances of Real Madrid progressing to the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League ahead of his side’s second-leg semi-final clash with Manchester City.
According to Real Madrid’s shot-stopper, Los Blancos will have the last laugh regardless of Man City’s impregnable home record. According to the former Chelsea goalie, next week’s encounter is akin to a final.
“Next week will be like a final and we’re quite good at winning finals,” he told the press as quoted by Madrid Zone.
