Ruto leads worship song.
On Sunday, while leading a worship song at the AIC church in Milimani, Nairobi, President William Ruto demonstrated his abilities as a choir conductor.
“Ee Bwana uniinue, Kwa imani nisimame, Nipande milima yote ,Ee Bwana unipandishe,” he sang.
Ruto sang the ‘whole sang at the altar just before he gave his speech.
He carried his right hand high and swung it up and down as he sang the hymn, showing that he was enjoying the tune.
The President has a history of involvement with church choirs; in fact, he recently admitted he once belonged to one.
Ruto formerly served as the Christian Union choir’s chairman at the University of Nairobi.
Ruto leads worship song
He used to receive numerous requests to perform at State House while serving as the director of the CU choir on campus.
They met while serving on the North Rift evangelist team, which included his wife, mama Rachel Ruto.
In September 2022, after the Supreme Court validated his victory, Ruto led leaders in singing “Ndiye Mwamba ni Salama” at his former Karen home.
He requested Tanzania’s renowned Zabron singers to perform “Mkono wa Bwana,” a song that holds a special place in his heart, during his swearing-in event at Kasarani.
Early this year, a video of a young Ruto leading the choir in 1980, under the presidency of the late Daniel Moi, surfaced online.
The ‘weeds’ on Moi’s land have to be removed, according to the song praising Moi.
I say, “Kwekwe shambani mwa Nyayo na zilimwe. The pupils sing along to Ruto as he leads the song, “Let weeds on Nyayo’s (Moi) farm should be cultivated.”
