Irungu denies knowing Monica
The late businesswoman Monica Kimani’s city apartment at Lamuria Gardens was not where the murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie claimed to have visited the night of the victim’s death.
Jowie testified before Justice Grace Nzioka in support of his defense in the killing of Monica, claiming that he was at his home in the Royal Park estate rather than Monica’s when she was slain.
“Since I didn’t know Monica, I never paid a visit to her home or spoke to her. I knew George Kimani, his brother,” Jowie said in court.
The suspect further alleged witnesses who were called by the prosecution including Lee Owen Omondi lied to the court that he was with him at Monica’s apartment on the material night.
He also said that a video played in court showing a man eating Nyama choma with Monica was not him and he does not know him.

Jowie also disowned a brown short that was produced in court to be his.
Jowie claimed, “The short I was wearing was brown and had no blood marks, however the short in court is khaki cream in color.
Jowie read the government chemist report while being cross-examined by state attorney Gikui Gichuhi. It stated that the blood stains on the short he was wearing belonged to Monica Kimani.
Another lady called Chelegat, who saw Jowie on the same night of September 19, 2018, said he was wearing a brown khaki short.

At Jacque Maribe’s home on the Royal Park estate, where Jowie was staying, police found that short.
George Kimani, the deceased’s brother, reportedly called Jowie on September 21, 2018, asking for help in getting the word out about his sister’s terrible murder in Lamuria Gardens.
Jowie admitted to the court that he used Brian Kasaine’s gun to shoot himself at his home.
He claimed Kasaine had a fight with his wife and left the gun with him as a result.
