Risk on taking diploma in universities. Blow To University Students Enrolling in Diploma and Certificate Programs

Students who want to enroll in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Tvet) programs at universities are not eligible for government funding.

This category includes degree-based diploma and certificate programs offered by universities, according to Agnes Wahome, CEO of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

There are Tvet schools within some of our universities that offer diploma and certificate programs, but those schools are not eligible for government scholarships, according to Wahome.

She was speaking during a Citizen TV interview on Tuesday morning.

According to Wahome, the courses would be available for selection on the Kuccps website.

The Ministry of Education oversees about 200 Tvet institutes. According to her, these students would have access to government loans and grants.

She went on to say that this technique has been around for a while.

This week, the president introduced a need-based funding strategy for college students.

Ruto outlined three categories of students: those who are less vulnerable, more vulnerable, and capable.

“Children from low-income families will now have equal access to possibilities for higher education and TVET. According to Ruto, their homes are not compelled to make any kind of educational contribution to their children.

There is a widespread belief that degree programs are superior to certificate programs.

Is it, however, always the case?

The majority of young people now choose to pursue degrees in order to be competitive in the job market as a result of the expansion of universities in the education sector.

The plain fact is that there are some certificate programs that are far superior to degrees and even offer higher salaries.

Ernst & Young stated that there is “no evidence” that performance in college corresponds with success in later life when they announced in 2016 that they will be eliminating the degree classification from their admittance criterion.
