KUCCPS to open portal
Next Monday, KUCCPS will launch its portal for varsity placement.
Students wanting to enroll in universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (TVETs) can start submitting their applications the next week after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) launches the website.
The institutions are currently under pressure to deliver the data necessary to comply with the new funding model set by President William Ruto last week.
Universities have until tomorrow (Tuesday) to provide KUCCPS with details on the prices of their programs; after that, the organization will publish the information to help students make judgments.
Regardless of whether the students are self- or government-sponsored, Dr. Wahome issued the registrars orders to disclose the cost of all their programs at the Monday meeting.

“What is the price of your program? Since there are so many different ways to define students as self- or government-sponsored, there are problems. What is the cost of offering the service? questioned Dr. Wahome.
Prior to 2015, universities were paid under the Universities Funding program utilizing the differentiated unit cost (DUC).
Given that universities have different costs, it gives the average course cost across all universities, but this is certain to alter under the new system.
According to Dr. Wahome, the price of engineering and clinical medicine programs will probably change over time as a result of the associated internships
In a letter sent on Saturday, Dr. Wahome asked universities to produce data by Tuesday outlining the annual cost.
Please be aware that although Kuccps will list all programs, the government will only award scholarships to students who select degree programs at public universities. Government aid is not available to students who opt to enroll in private universities and Tvets programs; they can only apply for Helb loans.
