- Sergio Aguero was less impressed with a tactical decision made by Pep Guardiola during Real Madrid vs Man City clash
- Guardiola elected not to make a single sub during the cracker, as his charges came from a goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw
- Aguero, a Man City legend, questioned the decision, with the ex-striker insisting Julian Alvarez should have been introduced in the tie
Sergio Aguero has taken issue with one of Pep Guardiola’s ‘baffling’ decisions during Manchester City’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
City took on the reigning champions in a mouthwatering semi-final encounter on Tuesday night, May 9, at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Marca reports that the European giants settled for a 1-1 draw during the cracker, leaving the tie wide open ahead of the second leg set to be played at the Etihad Stadium.
Vinicius Jr opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half with a stunner before Kevin De Bruyne controversially equalised for City in the 66th minute.
Aguero hits out at Pep
Despite the encouraging result, Aguero was less impressed with a tactical decision made by Pep Guardiola during the match.
Sportbible reports that Guardiola did not make a single substitution in the Champions League match, a move that left Aguero baffled.
The City legend slammed his former manager for the decision, insisting his fellow countryman Julian Alvarez should have been given an opportunity to play.
“What I don’t understand is why he didn’t put Julián [Alvarez on]… I wonder, but well it’s Pep. He doesn’t marry anyone,” he said via @City_Xtra.
“If it was up to me, I’d play Julián in almost every game – we need him to be active and have a spark,” he added.
