In light of the rising violence in the region, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to reestablish security “on all fronts”.

Additionally, Netanyahu reinstated the defense minister whose dismissal he had previously announced.

A time when the Jewish Passover and the Christian Easter fall on the same weekend as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan has been marred by violent riots, shootings, and rocket attacks.

More than 30 rockets were fired from Lebanese territory the day after Israeli police stormed the prayer hall of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is Islam’s third-holiest site, in a dawn raid on Wednesday. Israel then launched an attack on southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

Since Netanyahu’s government, a coalition of far-right and ultra-Orthodox parties, came to power in December, Israeli-Palestinian violence has gotten worse.

The most recent uptick followed his announcement of a “pause” for discussion on judicial reform legislation late last month, which divided the country and led to conflicts within his government.

One of the victims was Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who was fired by Netanyahu on March 26 after he requested a pause to the legislative process due to worries about national security and threats from reserve military members to skip duty.

Currently, Netanyahu is struggling with extremely low levels of domestic popularity. According to a recent survey, he would probably lose an election held right now.

Tough conflicts

Netanyahu acknowledged having “difficult disputes” with Gallant at a news conference, but he has chosen to put them behind him.

Galan stays in his position, and we’ll keep cooperating for Israel’s citizens’ protection, according to Netanyahu.

Prior to his remarks on Monday, deadly violence persisted.

Mohammed Fayez Balhan, a 15-year-old Palestinian adolescent, was killed and two others were injured in the most recent shot by Israeli soldiers, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The Israeli army stated that its personnel were present in the Aqbat Jaber camp, the scene of earlier deadly Israeli assaults this year, where they were attempting “to apprehend a terror suspect”.
