Kenyans Receive Bad News As Prices For These Essential Items Are Unveiled Ahead Of Christimas.
The festivity season is here and Kenyans are preparing to visit friends, and relatives in distinguished localities in the country. This Year’s festivals may not have much to celebrate as Kenyans are suffering due to the inflation of essential commodities. The inflation rate has been increasing at a faster rate days after the election that was held a few months ago on August ninth.
In a weekly price check by our reliable sources of information, Kenyans may have to dig dipper into their pockets during the festivity season as prices of essential items remain high. Items such as maize meal, cooking oil, sugar and wheat flour prices are much higher compared to the previous festival seasons.
the price of buying a 2KG Packet Of Maize meal remains at KSh 200, while a 90KG bag of maize sells at around KSh 4,600 and KSh 5,000 which is relatively high considering it is the harvesting season. The government indicates that the prices of maize flour is expected to remain high as they plan on importing maize to supplement local supplies.
Sugar Prices remain high at KSh 160 per a Kilo in various supermarkets and small retail shops Countrywide. Wheat flour prices increased by 38% to retail at around KSh 200 and KSh 210 depending on the brand. Kenyans may have to spend less on cooking oil as its price slightly dropped from KSh 360 to KSh 340.
