End Of Road For Raila In Western Region As Fresh Details Emerge On What Is Hapening Silently .
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi was struggling to unify the vote-rich Western region behind President William Ruto prior to the August General Election. However, this may have changed. Since taking office, Mr Mudavadi has held a number of meetings with Western region elected officials, according to which this would be used as a tool to increase his bargaining power ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Amani National Congress (ANC) performed poorly in the just-concluded elections and could not deliver the Vihiga County presidential vote to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. On Wednesday, Mr Mudavadi met with elected officials from his hometown in a city hotel. The Prime Cabinet Secretary met with regional leaders yesterday, saying there are no political implications to their cooperation.
Western Parliamentary Caucus convener Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera said that their call for unity is not a political endorsement, and that it was not Mudavadi’s initiative but their own. Saboti MP Caleb Amisi agreed, saying that a Luhya meeting should not be viewed as an endorsement of a person.
