Kenya Union of Post Primary Education teachers chairperson Omboko Milemba wants President William Ruto to gift teachers.

Milemba said all presidents had something special for teachers during their tenure.

The Emuhaya MP spoke during a meeting with Education CS Ezekiel Machogu on Tuesday.

He said former President Uhuru Kenyatta gave teachers a CBA of Sh54billion.

“We know what we want from this administration and President William Ruto should be prepared to give it to us,” he said.

Milemba was accompanied by Kuppet secretary general Akelo Misori who called for an increment to teachers’ salaries.

Misori said the union is in talks with their employer.

“We are negotiating with the Teachers Service Commission on this and we expect the Kenya Kwanza government to support our quest, having promised to raise teachers’ salaries,” Misori said.

On CBC transition, the union urged Machogu to provide the necessary legal guidance for a smooth transition to junior secondary.

This is as the review team continues engaging the public on education reforms.

Machogu told the union that the team is expected to present their first preliminary report to the President in December.
